Dr. Karen Helena Kandel, a daughter of Dr. Barbara Wajsbrot Kandel and Joseph Kandel of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., was married Saturday evening in Philadelphia to Jason Belmont Conn, the son of Janet Belmont Conn and Richard J. Conn of Bala Cynwyd, Pa. Rabbi Alan LaPayover officiated at the children's museum in Memorial Hall.
The bride, 26, is taking her husband's name. She is a first-year resident in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry, where she is also pursuing a master's in oral biology. She sees patients at a clinic within the dental school. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, from which she also received a doctorate in dental medicine.
The bride's father is an owner of the Kleen Machine laundry in Brooklyn, and one of the owners of a commercial building in Brooklyn. Her mother is a radiologist specializing in breast imaging at the Commack, N.Y., outpatient treatment center of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Mr. Conn, 31, is an assistant deputy general counsel at Comcast Corporation in Philadelphia. He graduated summa cum laude from Cornell. He received a law degree cum laude from the University of Michigan.
His mother teaches second grade at the Perelman Jewish Day School in Wynnewood, Pa. His father is a lawyer in private practice in Bala Cynwyd. He is on the board of the SeniorLaw Center in Philadelphia, which provides legal services to the elderly, and the treasurer of the Democratic Committee of Lower Merion and Narberth in Lower Merion, Pa.
