Elizabeth Scott Kowitt and John Karsten Moran were married Saturday evening at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York. Dr. Anne Klaeysen, a leader of the New York Society for Ethical Culture, performed a nondenominational ceremony.
The couple met at Bowdoin College, from which they graduated.
The bride, 28, will keep her name. She is a staff writer in New York for Fortune magazine. She received a master's degree in journalism from Columbia.
She is a daughter of Kerry Brown Kowitt and Stephen Kowitt of Summit, N.J. The bride's father works in New York as a managing director for risk policy at JPMorgan Chase.
The groom, 29, is known as Karsten. He is a freelance photographer and photo editor in New York.
He is a son of Sabine G. Moran and Dr. John S. Moran of Atlanta. His father, an epidemiologist, works in Atlanta at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
