No First-Date Jitters? Audition Passed

Bridget Leigh Carroll and Timothy Peter Brennan were married Saturday at the Horizon Hotel in Palm Springs, Calif. Randy Philips, an uncle of the bride who became a Universal Life minister for the event, officiated.

The bride, 32, is a production manager at Blind, a design, animation and production firm in Santa Monica, Calif. She graduated from New York University.

She is a daughter of Lisa Webb Carroll of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Lawrence Carroll of Venice, and a stepdaughter of Lucy J. Carroll. The bride's father is a painter whose works are in the permanent collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Her mother is an executive assistant at Amgen, a biotechnology company in Thousand Oaks.

The groom, 34, is an owner of BrennanMoyMedia, a technology business in Brooklyn that develops smartphone applications. He works from Los Angeles. He graduated from Emerson College. He is the son of Lenora A. Brennan and John J. Brennan of Brooklyn. His mother is an independent fund-raising consultant. His father retired as a vice president of Chanel in Manhattan, overseeing the operations of the company's retail stores in United States.

The couple met in December 2007 through a mutual friend. Mr. Brennan went to see the friend perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade, an improv theater in New York. Ms. Carroll was also in the show. "She was funny," he said. "And she has this striking red hair."

Afterward, Mr. Brennan went to the Peter McManus Cafe in Chelsea, the unofficial post-show hangout of the Brigade's performers and writers. Ms. Carroll was there, too, but at the other end of a long table. He found a seat next to her. "He was charming and confident, and I liked that he was not afraid to approach me," she said. They discussed their love of the movies, and each was impressed by the other's sense of humor. Mr. Brennan asked her out to dinner, a move that Ms. Carroll also found brave. On that first date, the conversation was easy. And Mr. Brennan, surprised by the lack of first-date jitters, proclaimed, "Well, this isn't awkward." MARGAUX LASKEY
