Brad Madison Hoylman and David Ivan Sigal were married Friday afternoon at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah in Manhattan. Rabbi Rachel S. Weiss performed the ceremony.
Mr. Hoylman (left), 47, a Democrat, is a New York State Senator who represents the 27th District in Manhattan. He graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University and received a master's in politics from Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He received a law degree from Harvard. Until last year, he was the chairman of Community Board 2 in Manhattan.
He is a son of Audrey Kennedy Hoylman and James M. Hoylman of Maxwelton, W.Va. His mother retired as a teacher from White Sulphur Springs Elementary School in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. His father, who is also retired, worked in Lewisburg, W.Va., as a process analytics specialist for ABB, the Swiss power and automation technology company.
Mr. Sigal, 46, is a filmmaker in Manhattan. He produced and directed "Florent: Queen of the Meat Market," a documentary released in 2011. He was a producer of the 2010 feature film "Fair Game." He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and received a master's in fine arts from New York University. He is on the board of the Treatment Action Group, an AIDS/H.I.V. policy research advocacy group, in Manhattan.
He is a son of Ellen V. Sigal and Gerald R. Sigal of Washington. His mother is the chairwoman and the founder of Friends of Cancer Research, an advocacy organization in Washington. His father is the chairman of a construction company in Washington that bears the family name. He is a trustee of the National Building Museum in Washington.
