Congratulations on deciding to have a destination wedding! You're taking the road less traveled but this is a memorable road indeed. Destination weddings are perfect for couples who love to travel, met while on vacation, or want to be adventurous and try something new; whatever your reason it's going to involve some hefty planning. The first step to getting all of your guests to your destination is designing your invitations and there are tons of ways to incorporate your location or the experience itself into your designs.
Maps
We love using maps for invite ideas because you get to add some elements of the location into the design. It also is helpful when showing guests exactly where it is. It lets guests know up front where you're planning on getting married instead of reading the fine print.
Culture
We strongly encourage using the location as part of your theme because similar to the map idea, the culture let's guests know what to expect. If you're getting married in India for example, think of using their colors, symbols, or typography.
Passports
If there was an award for best keepsake, this would receive a nomination because it is so fun and memorable. You're inviting guests to not only your destination wedding but preparing them for an exciting journey.
Tickets
Tickets, much like the passports, remind guests that they are about to embark on a journey. It adds to the travel theme and you can customize it with the location they're heading to.
Get creative with colors, themes, culture, and iconography. Destination wedding invitations are so versatile but I highly suggest adding where guests will be headed to so they're prepared for the location. This is a theme that can carry on throughout the wedding planning and make everything cohesive.
Happy Planning,
Tat
